Final Stage of Q-School

By Sean Crogie   Posted at  11/29/2006 04:06:00 PM   No comments

The grueling 6 round saga everyone calls Q-School started today. With alot of familiar names on the leaderboard. It's been 16 years since Duffy Waldorf has had to qualifying for the PGA but because he was 131 on the money list causes him to tee it up this week. Lee Janzen a two time U.S. Open winner also has to qualify because of his finish on the money list at 146nd. He used his last exemption last year(Top 50 on the All-time Money List) Chris Riley, a former Ryder Cupper and Carlos Franco are some other familiar names. This is what the golfers are playing for:

  • The top 30 and ties earn their PGA TOUR card for 2007.
  • The next golfers nearest 50 total earn exempt status on the Nationwide Tour.
  • The remaining golfers of the 163 entered in the finals earn conditional status on the Nationwide Tour.
