On Monday the PGA Tour announced a new tournament for the 2008 TOUR schedule, the Puerto Rico Open presented by Banco Popular. It will be held March 17-23, 2008, and hosted by the Puerto Rico Golf Association at the Tom Kite designed Coco Beach Golf & Country Club -- Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. Coco Beach Golf & Country Club is comprised of four unique and challenging nines, a compilation of which will serve as the host course for the event. 12,500 FedExCup points will be up for grabs and a purse of $3.5 million. The winner will earn 2,250 FedExCup points and $630,000. The tournament represents a five-year agreement and is scheduled opposite the World Golf Championships-CA Championship.
