Baddeley- Looking For A Deal Soon?

It looks like Aaron Baddeley will be looking for a deal soon as MacGregor, his equipment sponsor won't be putting any efforts into marketing tour players come 2008.

As quoted from GolfWRX.com

An official for the Albany, Ga.-based club manufacturer contacted Sept. 17 would not dispute Baddeley’s assertion, but added it was premature to address MacGregor’s plans. Rob Johnson, the company’s vice president of marketing, said: “Everything is being considered, from changes to tour staff to additions to tour staff to you name it. ”

Johnson attributed the uncertainty to an ongoing evaluation of operations being conducted by MacGregor’s board of directors and the company’s new leadership.

In July, MacGregor’s directors announced CEO Barry Schneider, while maintaining his title, had been relieved of his operational duties. Saying they were concerned about Schneider’s penchant for micro-management, the directors – including Greg Norman – turned over all global operations to newly recruited Duff Meyercord, who is serving as president and chief operating officer.

Meyercord is a partner at Carl Marks Advisory Group, a New York-based turnaround specialist. Privately held MacGregor, which in 2006 acquired the Greg Norman Collection apparel business, reportedly generates approximately $150 million in annual revenues.

Baddeley has only been represented by MacGregor for all of his career, although he must b a little pissed off as supposedly MacGregor has not paid him in full for services rendered this season.

Baddeley has been playing TaylorMade metalwoods for most of the 2007 season and the company has offered him an equipment deal that also will include irons, golf bag and hat, according to a source close to the Baddeley camp. The source also said Baddeley likely will continue his ball and glove deal with Titleist.

I'm sure Badds will have no problem filling his bag next year with a plethora of sponsors at his door.
