Dubai Golf Tournament Has Some FedEx Cup Feel

When I first heard the plans for Dubai to host the world's richest golf tournament in 2009. I though hey the European Tour is trying to create some more excitement a la FedEx Cup.
How does an annual $10-million bonus pool and the winner getting $1.66 million sound. They're even changing the Order of Merit to The Race to Dubai, with the player finishing #1 at the end of the season receiving US$2 million. Now that's some serious cash.
That's were the similarities end as a player like Tiger or Phil would have to play 11 events on the European Tour to get into the Dubai World Championship. So obviously Tiger would be welcome but it's for the European players based in Europe.

Dubai World Championship will be played at the Jumeirah Golf Estates and would would initially run for five years with the option of extending it for another five years.
