Check out January 2008's issue of Golf Digest as Muskoka Bay Club was named 2007 Best New Canadian Course in Golf Digest section featuring America's Best New Courses.

Located ninety minutes north of Toronto in Gravenhurst, Muskoka Bay is situated on 850 pristine acres in the heart of Ontario's cherished Muskoka region. Rave reviews and awards from numerous golf publications have greeted the Doug Carrick-designed course since its opening in 2006. Ontario Golf named Muskoka Bay Club as Best New Course in 2006 and Fairways named the course co-winner of its Best New Course in 2006 as well. Earlier this fall Muskoka Bay placed second in SCOREGolf's Best New Courses in Canada for 2007.
The par 72 course measures 5,087 to 7,322 yards and features four sets of tees. "I'm thrilled with the recognition for the course and grateful that Peter Freed gave us the opportunity to work with such a fantastic piece of Muskoka landscape," said Carrick who has captured four Best New Canadian Course awards from Golf Digest since 1995.
Golf Digest said, "Muskoka Bay is high drama, from opening tee shot to final putt. Somehow, Carrick shoehorned the front nine into seams between mammoth ridges and marshland edges without ever making it feel uncomfortable or cramped. The climax is the par-4 ninth, off a ledge, over a swamp to a skinny fairway that weaves uphill through domes of granite to a hilltop peek-a-boo green beyond twin outcroppings. Pulverize that rock and you'd have a terrific hole in the sand dunes reminiscent of Ballybunion or Lahinch."
"We are honoured by the Golf Digest award," said Muskoka Bay Club's brainchild, Peter Freed, president of Freed Developments. "We could not hope for better recognition for the centerpiece of our four season community." Toronto Life magazine in 2007 said in fact that "Muskoka Bay may be the best golf course community in the entire country."
