Margaritaville Eyewear Review – Made In The Shade

Late in the Fall I received some polarized sunglasses from Margaritaville Sunglasses.  It was great timing as my second pair of Oakley Monster Dog sunglasses had basically worn out. Jimmy Buffet’s companies market many different products but I was curious how some shades would perform. I got to use them for the last few remaining rounds of golf the year. Here’s my feedback from some late season golf.

I got to choose which style of Margaritaville Sunglasses to test out and there are 8 styles to choose from including the Kingston style which I chose. The Kingston is a very similar style to my Oakley Monster Dog shades.



I’ve never had sunglasses that have had polarized lenses and the Kingston shades didn’t disappoint on the golf course I was able to pick up the ball even into holes when the sun was directly in my eyes. The polarized lenses really cut down on the suns glare as well they seemed to enhance the areas that I was looking at including the greens when reading putts. I also found the polarized lenses great for when you might stray from the fairway great for picking up your ball in the rough stuff.

Look And Feel
The Kingston shades were just as light as my old faithful Oakley’s although the Kingston shades have hinges in that attach the arms to the main part of the sunglasses so you have to be careful you don’t sit on them or apply any sort of pressure. They’d probably break unlike the Oakley Monster Dogs. FYI Kingston shades come with a great Margaritaville® Case so make sure and put them in the case when not in use.

I really liked the style of the Kingston sunglasses. Fit my face well and I really like semi wraparound coverage of the Kingston.


The Little Things
Sometimes its all about the little things with a product. The Kingston shades had a few. The Margaritaville palm tree logo etching on all lenses is a nice touch as well as the “Watching the Sun Bake” Temple Printing on the inside of the arms of the sunglasses. Also really like the fact the SunGrip rubber nose pads on the glasses are comfortable and don’t rub or leave marks. Nice custom Margaritaville Case and microfiber cleaning bag to keep your shades protected and clean.

I wanted to give them a longer review so I’ve been wearing them the last few months of my new job as a RSMC with Canada Post, here are some additions.

I’m outside anywhere from a couple hours to five plus hours in some harsh conditions. I couldn’t be more happy with how the Kingston sunglasses performed reducing glare off snow and ice as well as being great at cutting down on eye fatigue which is really important on those long days delivering mail. They’ve held up well with no damage considering I’m on the go early in the morning til late in the afternoon. 

Conclusion
Margaritaville Eyewear offers some great polarized sunglasses in 8 popular styles. I was really impressed by the quality of the lenses no scratches yet and the comfort is amazing. They’ve been absolutely solid on the golf course and while delivering the mail this winter with my new job. Kingston sunglasses retail for $159.95 but are on sale right online now for $79.97. A great deal if you’re in the market for new sunglasses that are 100% UV A/B Protection, you can’t go wrong with Margaritaville Eyewear.

Ryan Moore A Great Fit For Arnie Wear

So I'm checking out the pics from the latest tour event, the 2012 Humana Challenge on GolfWRX.com and I immediately notice a few pictures of Ryan Moore decked out in some new Arnie. Nothing official until I get home and see where it's been announced that Ryan Moore is the new Ambassador of Arnie Wear. Great signing for Arnie we look forward to seeing Ryan in the 50s 60s and 70s apparel from Arnie, a great fit.






























Keegan Wears Tommy And So Do I

When I think of Tommy Hilfiger I think of a preppy look, one that I don't normally radiate towards when it comes to golf fashion. After getting the chance to wear and test out some Tommy Hilfiger golf apparel I really like what they've done with their golf apparel line from the the fabrics and design down to the little accents of their apparel.

Tommy Hilfiger Ladell Polo Midnight
The Ladell Polo shirt in Midnight is a stylish striped pique polo. It uses a blend of polyester and spandex that wicks way moisture and dries quickly plus its anti-microbial to stop odor as well. Love the two-toned sleeve cuff, a great accent to a solid polo.





























Tommy Hilfiger Lisbon Polo Skyway
The Lisbon Polo in Skyway is a great looking solid polo with subtle diamond design throughout shirt. The fabric of the Lisbon uses a hybrid cotton/polyester blend for a supper soft feel. Nice touch with the Tommy logo on left sleeve.



























Finally what would Tommy Hilfiger Golf Aparel be without a sweater. Tommy Hilfiger combines 100% cotton in a close fitting sweater that will accent any polo .Tommy logo on the back is a nice touch as well.

A Whole Lot Of Orange - Cobra Golf Set To Launch New Amp Line

COBRA Golf is set to the launch their new AMP line of products - driver, fairways & hybrids, and irons. And it looks like they'll carry the orange them that they had in their new Trusty Rusty to their Amp line. With the inevitable signing of Rickie Fowler to a 13 club deal these clubs will be popular with most and the orange is even starting to grow on me. My favorite is the look of the AMP driver and the hybrid, I'm a sucker for a nice looking hybrid. These will be available in Canada January 26th and hopefully Ottawa Golf Blog will get a chance to review a few of the pieces from the line.

CARLSBAD, CA (January 9, 2012) – COBRA’s new AMPTM Irons feature Advanced Material PlacementTM , a progressive face and cavity design and v-skid sole that provide greater distance and accuracy with a new level of customization. The AMP Irons are available in an iron set and combo set.

Ian Poulter Signs with COBRA PUMA GOLF

The always fashionable, Ian Poulter, who has amassed 15 career wins and most recently won the 2011 JBWere Australian Masters, has signed with COBRA PUMA GOLF to wear brand new styles of footwear and belts. Great combo considering he's played Cobra clubs for about 5 years.

Favorites From The Sligo Wear Spring 2012 Catalogue

Sligo Wear has released their Spring 2012 Catalogue for all of us golf apparel junkies to drool over and order for the upcoming season. Had a chance to review some Sligo Wear apparel and they always seem to come up with some great color and designs. Spring looks awesome with the Scriver golf shirt in a plethora of great colors as well as well as some nice plaid shorts to complement a bevy of polo shirts for the masses. I really like the look of the track jacket again this year, I still wear mine mainly during early morning rounds. The new Ethan with its accent stitching and faux pockets I definitively find appealing and so will most Sligo fans. Hopefully we see Brian Gay sporting some new Sligo Wear this coming week in Hawaii at the Sony open.

PGA Professionals - Get SPi Certified at PGA Show - Booth #707

Looks like our friends at Seemore Putters will be at Booth #707 at this month's  in Orlando. PGA Professionals will be able to get SPi Certified at the PGA Show.
