Holy shit. I'm on the PGA Tour in 2013!!!!

That was the tweet by Manotick's own Brad Fritsch as he shot a final round 69 at the Web.com Tour Championship at TPC Craig Ranch Texas and secured his spot in the Top 25 at 18 to secure his PGA Tour card for next year. First Ottawa born area to make it to the big show. Great photo posted by Adam Hadwin below of Brad after the round. Adam will get his at Q-School.

Jesper Parnevik 'Gangnam Style' Video

If you have kids then you're familiar with the "Gangnam Style" craze. I remember when my oldest daughter showed me the video for the first time. Now I can't get it out of my head. After seeing the video below now I get to introduce her to a whole new "Gangnam Style" video courtesy of golfer Jesper Parnevik.

Parnevik used South Korean rapper Psy’s tune quite nicely to make a birthday gift for a friend. You'll also recognize PGA Tour Pros Dustin Johnson, Fredrik Jacobson and Richard S. Johnson who make appearances, as do Parnevik’s wife and kids. Enjoy!

Review: Remembering Cabot Links

When I speak of my time this summer at Cabot Links I can't help but get a little excited and smile from ear to ear. Last week I had that same smile on my face as I opened an email from Cabot Link's owner Ben Cowan-Dewar. Ben was apologizing for the tardiness of sending a picture of myself and Joe Robinson on Cabot's 14th hole. It was great golfing with Joe the Director of Golf Operations at Cabot Links. I first met Joe at the Ottawa Golf Show. It was great trekking around Cabot with our caddies that day. I hit a solid gap wedge and two putted for par. One of many great memories from Cabot Links.

Jonas Blixt Secures his First PGA Tour Victory

CARLSBAD, CA (October 15, 2012) – Jonas Blixt, COBRA PUMA GOLF Ambassador, won the Frys.com Open yesterday to secure his first PGA Tour victory as a rookie on Tour. Would You Pay $500 For Golf?

On Twitter recently I picked up a new follower LasVegasCanuck who got me thinking just from asking him one simple question. What's your Favorite course in ?
I still haven't made it to Vegas yet so I was intrigued at what LasVegasCanuck answer would be.


So of course I had to look up Cascata Golf Course and wow is all I can say from a golfer who's never golfed in the desert. Cascata with it's canyons, rock outcroppings and man-made waterfalls is beautiful. Plus it's away from the main Las Vegas strip in Boulder City. But at $500 would you fork out the cash to play?
For me I would definitely because it would be a once in a life time golfing experience. Having never played golf in the desert I think Cascata Golf Course would be memorable for years to come.

AUR Golf Polo Review

My first experience with AUR Golf apparel was this Summer during my Cape Breton Golf Trip. My wife and I were scheduled for some formal dining at the Purple Thistle Dining Room at Keltic Lodge. I of course didn't pack any pants for my golf trip. A quick call down to the Pro Shop at Highlands Links they sent me a couple pairs of AUR Golf pants to try on. I always find it difficult to get pants that fit as I have a longer inseam being 6'5". One pair actually fit and I've since even worn them on the course. Very comfortable quality pants.

Received a AUR S-Café Striped Polo a few weeks ago and was excited to try it out for a review. It's part of  AUR's Aware Line. AUR is trying to be more environmentally friendly by using recycled products in there apparel. So instead of coffee grounds ending up in landfills they've made yarn from the coffee grounds and used it for their shirts.  AUR calls this S.Café.

The Scoop
The blend of fabrics makes the S-Café Striped Polo quite comfortable. It's a very lightweight shirt and the large fit my frame perfectly (6'5" 208lbs) Most golf shirts these days are moisture wicking and AUR is no different. This shirt will keep you cool in the heat of the Summer. The fabric held up great after a few washes the shirt is just like new. It's kind of a bonus that it's environmentally friendly too. 

The polo that I reviewed was black and with the stripes was actually quite stylish. AUR has many more great colors as well. The S-Café Striped Polo actually has a "collar" which is a nice touch and makes the shirt stand out. The S-Café Striped Polo retails for about $55USD which is quite reasonable for this top notch shirt.

Tin Cup Ball Marker Review

If your looking for that unique gift for the golfer in your life look no further than Tin Cup ball markers. The concept .... a simple cup with a design. Place your golf ball in the cup and with a ultra fine permanent ink pen mark your golf ball. It only takes about a minute and the design comes out very nice. I choose the Magic Dragon with a red ultra fine Sharpie. I found it better to mark a few balls before your round than out on the course. Just made it easier. I also tried use a thicker marker which worked great on the larger parts of the dragon but i still needed the ultra fine for the finer points. Fits nicely in a bag in my golf bag. What a great way to mark your ball in style.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK (October 8, 2012) - The Tommy Hilfiger Group, which is wholly owned by PVH Corp. (NYSE: PVH), is pleased to introduce the Spring 2013 men's and women's golf collections offered by The Fletcher Leisure Group.

We've added a twist to the classics through an innovative use of fabrics and details, delivering performance, comfort and style in golf sportswear that can be worn on and off the course." 

The Spring 2013 collections feature three deliveries inspired by the preppy heritage and energetic spirit of the Tommy Hilfiger brand. The first delivery draws inspiration from the wide open Arizona desert with a neutral palette that emphasizes strong graphic details. Pieces include lightweight cardigans, cotton zip-neck sweaters, shorts and classic slacks. Delivery two incorporates the unique summer vibe of Bar Harbor. Nautical stripes, Sleeveless polo shirtdresses and red, white and blue plaid pants give a classic New England shoreline vibe. Inspired by the sun and sand of Palm Beach, the final delivery features shades of sun washed yellows, pinks, blues, and greens paired with subtle patterns.

Key to the collections are designs that incorporate three technical performance fabrics.  TH Comfort Tech is a hybrid cotton fabric used as the foundation for the golf collection to combine style and comfort with the functional properties required in performance driven garments. TH Tech is a 100% polyester fabric with moisture wicking capabilities that keep garments dry and provide the anti-odor properties essential in a technical garment. TH Cotton is a 100% cotton fabric designed for superior quality and comfort. 

In early 2012, Tommy Hilfiger announced Keegan Bradley, the 2011 PGA Championship winner, PGA Tour Rookie of the Year and 2012 World Golf Championship Winner as global ambassador for the Tommy Hilfiger Golf men's collection through 2014. Since January 2012, Bradley has been representing the brand at major tournaments in select pieces from the men's golf collection.  In March, British golfer Melissa Reid was announced as the ambassador for the Tommy Hilfiger Golf women's collection.  The 24 year old, who placed second on the Ladies European Tour last year, will wear select pieces from the women's golf collection throughout the 2013 LPGA championship season.

The men's collection, with approximately 100 styles, offers a wide selection of garments with expected retail prices ranging from $65 (€60/£50) for short-sleeved polos to $120 (€140/£115) for sophisticated outerwear options. The versatile women's collection includes approximately 75 styles with expected retail prices ranging from $65 (€60/£50) for bermudas and polos to $120 (€140/£115) for knits and outerwear.
