Fantasy Picks For Fry's Electronics Open

An interesting week for golf as the Tour heads down to Scottsdale, Arizona for the Fry's Electronics Open. In Scottsdale for one year only. In 2008, the event will move to its permanent venue at the Institute Golf Course in Morgan Hill, CA. The Institue Golf Course is adding a new clubhouse in preparation for next year's event. The field is a bit stronger this week with the addition of World #2 Phil Mickelson and others including Mark Calcavecchia, Stewart Cink, Mike Weir and this year's FBR Open winner Aaron Baddeley.

These are my picks for the week:
Phil Mickelson- even thought he hasn't played since the President's Cup., he's a two time FBR winner and three time Tucson Open champion. Think this guy likes the desert.

Bo Van Pelt- his last 3 starts are 8th-11th-5th (last week). Plus he has a solid record on desert courses. First win?

Aaron Baddeley- local resident who won the FBR Open in February at the nearby TPC Scottsdale. He has become most consistent, numbering seven top tens and 13 top-25s in 22 events.

Mike Weir - Riding the high of beating Tiger had a top-10 place last week at the Frys.com Open. Winless since the Nissan Open in 2004, he's due.

Tim Clark- top 10 in putting and is also a resident of Scottsdale. Could this be his week for his first PGA Tour win.

Mark Calcavecchia- Has won before in Arizona. Good putter, he'll do well st home this week.

Arron Oberholser- Good putter also has ties to Arizona.
