FedExCup Coming Soon

The FedExCup will kick off at the season opening Mercedes Championship Jan. 1-7. An excellent fan guide can be found at Pgatour.com. Very helpful in breaking down the season(Regular and Playoffs Seasons which are part of the FedExCup, then the Fall Series which sorts out the players who don't make the Top 30 from the FedExCup) and the point system(hey just like NASCAR) which is different for regular season and playoffs.

Select the Right Grip For Your Game

GolfPride.com has a great tool to select the right grip for you when your choosing to buy new grips. It asks you to rate 4 aspects of grip selection, they include :
  • Moisture Management
  • Responsiveness
  • Surface Texture
  • Hand Size

After selecting your answers, it will give you some possible choices of grips. A great interactive tool by Golf Pride.

No surprise Tiger wins Player of the Year

Tiger does it for the 8th time, he won more tournaments than anyone else, multiple Majors again and a wicked string of winning 6 straight tournaments in a row. The usual Tiger.

Trevor Immelman was voted rookie of the year after winning the Western Open and finishing 7th on the money list with > $3.8 million, highest money ranking by any PGA TOUR rookie.

Comeback player of the year went to Steve Stricker, who relied on sponsor's exemptions to get into tournaments and played only four times the first four months of the season. Good job, he did well for me in some fantasy golf leagues.

I've never been to keen on the look of Cleveland drivers especially there latest addition the HiBore but in early 2007 they'll be releasing the Cleveland HiBore XL Driver which looks amazing. Jerry Kelly used one to win the Merrill Lynch Shootout a little while back.

Canadians at Q-School: Update

Well all 6 rounds are over at Q-School, the bad news for the Canadians in the field none of them got there PGA Tour Card. The good news is Brad Fritsch, Bryn Parry(missed card by one shot), and David Morland IV will have full status on the Nationwide Tour. Good Luck next year boys.

Season Over

Well I guess the season is officially over, as the first taste of winter has hit the area.(Mix of snow, freezing rain/pellets). Got my last round in Nov.17th at Greensmere. See you next season, any bets on when the first area course will open?

Ping's Redwood Series of Putters

The Redwood Series
Ping's new line is named for Redwood City, CA, south of San Francisco, where Karsten Solheim began making putters in his garage back in the 60s. Three classic models are available all milled versions: Anser, the Zing, and the mallet-like Piper. They can all be customized(length, lie angle and loft, grips, shaft option also available in some putters) I'm sure these will be on everyone's wish list including mine.
