So Far Today At Angus Glen.....

For not only the well know Canadians in the field like Mike Weir but to the lesser known like Brad Fritsch, Graham DeLaet or Derek Gillespie winning the Canadian Open would be unbelievable and life changing no less. Well the first round is well underway today and there’s some pretty good scoring going on at Angus Glen. Among the Canadians who are finished for the day, Mike Weir had an up and down round and finished at even par. Brad Fritsch who got in because Jon Mills withdrew made the most of his opportunity with 2 birdies and 2 bogeys for an even par round also.
David Hearn has the most impressive round so far by a Canadian shooting a –6 with only one bogey and a whole lotta of birdies(7).
Hunter Mahan from the U.S. is the clubhouse leader at –9 with an impressive 3 eagles for his round, 2 on par 4s. We’ll see what transpires the rest of the day……

Coupon Code Deals for Golf Balls

It’s now about the middle of summer and most avid golfers are well into the full swing of their season. For me this is the point of the season where I start to realize those new golf balls (Top Flite D2 Feel no less) I purchased in the spring are starting to run out. So like any thrifty golfer I’m looking for deals on golf balls. One I just happen to run into was on CouponChief.com they have the best coupon codes around. A couple coupons that were quite handy were two coupons at Knetgolf.com one coupon for golf balls at $5/dozen and also a general coupon for 10% off your order at Knetgolf.com. These definitely come in handy when money gets tight later into the summer.

Paddy's Win At Carnoustie

Sunday’s finish to the Open Championship was one of the most exciting and entertaining in years from my perspective. I’ve been a big fan of Padraig and it was great to see him win and become the first European to win a major championship in eight years. Ireland has been hopping ever since, the Guinness has been flowing constantly I’m sure. Now it’s clear the press has officially anointed Sergio as the "Best Player Never To Win a Major" tough for Sergio but only one person can win. Now we can how Padraig will be crowned as a major champion.

The Open Championship- 18th Hole

I was off yesterday and even though i wasn't around a TV I was still able to catch holes 16,17, and 18 on TSN.ca broadband feed. Even though it was only three holes these have to be some of the hardest 3 closing holes in golf, even if the wind isn't blowing. Look at today Padraig Harrington is cruising along with a nice even par round double bogey on 18. Same thing with VJ double bogey. At least Harrington and VJ are still in the tourney Let's hope Mike Weir does better as he comes to 18 -3 for his round -3 for the tournament. Go Mikey!

Byrd Pulls Out a Win...Off To Carnoustie

Jonathan Byrd must be smiling from ear to ear on his flight over to Scotland for the Open Championship. He shot a nice round of 66, where he birdied the 14th hole at the TPC Deere Run and added two more on 16 and 17 to pulled out a win at the John Deere Classic thus qualifying him for the Open Championship which starts Thursday. It looked like Tim Clark was all set for his first win but that will have to wait as a few bogeys down the stretch were his undoing. Byrd has also won 2 other times on tour, the 2002 Buick Challenge and the 2004 B.C. Open. He won't be a favorite at the Open Championship but he'll definitely have a big smile on his face, their's no doubt of that.

At Least 15 Canadians At Canadian Open...Thank God

Thanks God it looks like we'll have a least 15 Canadians at the Canadian Open coming up later this month.
The RCGA announced more of the field for the July 26-29 event at Angus Glen.
PGA Tour regulars Stephen Ames, Mike Weir and Jim Rutledge are among the group along with Nationwide Tour players David Hearn, Bryn Parry, David Morland IV, Ian Leggatt and Chris Baryla. Young Canadian pros Richard Scott, James Lepp, James Love and Graham DeLaet were also extended invitations. Good for the RCGA, hopefully more will be added.
