Titleist 06 Lineup Looking Sweet..

At GolfWRX.com someone has posted a PDF file of the Titleist lineup for this year. All I can say is I may become a Titleist club ho, there new driver the 905R looks like 460cc of pure sleek power. After Arron Oberholser winning last week with this driver, these will fly off the shelves once there released later this year. I'm on the lookout for a 3 wood and the 904f back this year looks once again amazing. There's a great review here at The Sand Trap.com. Enjoy.

Oberholser steady in Pebble Beach victory

Great quote from Mike Weir on summing up his round of 78, to fall from a tie for the lead to a T3.

"My wedge game and putting was what killed me," he said. "When you hit 13 of 14 fairways and shoot 78, your wedge and putting is not very good."

It's all about the short game. Better luck for Weir at the Nissan.

Weir rolls on....at Pebble Beach

Nice to see Mike Weir on top after two rounds at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. From some pics on PGATOur.com he seems pretty relaxed, kiddin' around with his caddie, this format he seems to do well, a T5 a few weeks back at the Bob Hope(his only cut of the year). He's playing Spyglass today the hardest of the three. Should be interesting to watch.

Who is this J.B. Holmes?

I guess everyone knows after this past weekend as J.B. Holmes won in convincing fashion the FBR Open yesterday. The tours 464th rank player will certainly rise up the ranks as 4 of the top 10 ranked players were in the field. Good for him in only his 6th start on the PGA Tour. Here's just a sampling of some impressive stats of Holmes from the tournament:

Although his driving average was only 13th for the event on the measured driving holes, his average drives on all holes was 320.5 yards and was tops in the event.
Holmes hit 47 of his 56 drives over 300 yards (83.9 percent), the most of any player in the event.
16 of Holmes' drives exceeded 340 yards, including his longest - a 365 yard effort on the 13th hole in the second round.
Holmes average drive on the 13th hole measured 353 yards.

Holmes attempted to reach the green on par 5s and short par 4s 55 percent of the time.

Holmes missed 22 greens for the week, but led the field in scrambling by successfully converting on 18 of his attempts for a scrambling percentage of 81.8 percent.

Averaging 1.660 putts per GIR, Holmes finished the week tied for eighth in putting average

With an average of 3.75 and 4.25, Homes led the field in par 4 scoring and was tied for the lead in par 5 scoring, respectively.

It will be interesting to see how J.B. does the remainder of the season. You have to like this guy, and Cobra Golf being his major sponsor is loving it also. Good for him.

FBR Open from Phoenix

This weeks stop on the PGA Tour is in Phoenix for the FBR Open, huge crowds as always will be on hand. As all eyes will be on hole #16 where an amphitheatre like atmosphere awaits the golfers, on this par 3 162 yard hole. Two more great holes are the reachable 15th, a par 5 558 yd. hole and the driveable 17th at 332 yds. Some golfers that should do well this week are defending Champion Phil Mickelson, but also look for past champs like Jesper Parnevik, Mark Calcavecchia and Chris Dimarco to do well. Some long shots might include Arron Oberholser and Lucas Glover. Should be some good golf come Sunday, we'll see.
