Verplanks Wins The EDS Byron Nelson Championship
Dallas native Scott Verplank shot a final-round 66 to win the EDS Byron Nelson Championship. It was the first event played without Byron Nelson who died this past year and was only fitting it was won by Verplank a close friend. It was close battle between Verplank and third-round leader Luke Donald, who shot a 68 but double bogeyed the ninth hole and missed a 10-foot birdie putt on 18 that would have forced a playoff. Jerry Kelly, Rory Sabbatini, Phil Mickelson, and Ian Poulter tied for third, three strokes back. Check out the sweet ride Verplank won, made by Orange County Choppers:

First Round Of The Season
Had my first round of the season this past Saturday(April 21st). You couldn't of asked for a better day the weather was sunny and warm(for April) and I was out on one of my local courses, Manderley On The Green. There's 27 holes at Manderley and I ended up playing the Central and North courses. I was by myself for the first 9 holes so I played 2 balls on each hole so I ended up getting 27 holes in as I me up with another twosome on North #2. It was great to finally get out as I had all new clubs from last year other than my Red X Scotty, my 58 degree wedge and my TM Rescue Mid TP hybrid. The big change was with the driver as I had not even been to the range yet with my new Cleveland Hi-Bore XL 9.5 degree driver. Well it did not disappoint for my first round of the year as it was just as long as my old G2 and with its loud whack at impact this driver just feels awesome. I will post a detailed review once a get some more rounds in with it. All in all I was quite pleased with my game my irons were solid and I even drained a few putts. My scores were 50-47-43, not to bad for just shaking off the rust.
A Trend Continues On The PGA Tour
Nick Watney won the Zurick Classic of New Orleans on Sunday with some impressive play. A former Nationwide Tour grad he becomes the 5th first time winner on the PGA Tour this year. Of the 16 events this year not including the Mercedes Championship 4 other players have won for the first time, that's 5 for 16, a very interesting trend. He played the par 5s in 9 under and over the weekend made 30 of 34 putts of ten feet and under these stats helped it win in New Orleans big time.

Sens Down The Pens And Sid The Kid
The Senators looked pretty impressive this past night in downing the Penguins 3-0 to take the series in 5 games. A hard fought battle that had some pretty heavy hits. Mike Fisher had some greats hits including a solid bone cruncher on Jordan Staal. Ray Emery was again solid with 20 saves and Alfie was again the leader on and off the ice. Now Ottawa awaits there 2nd round opponent.

Ames, Daly, Montgomerie, Goosen, Ogilvy Headline Telus World Skins Near Collingwood
Monty is coming to Canada, for the Telus World Skins the first time he's competed in Canada.
Monty will join by fellow golfers Stephen Ames, John Daly who is the defending Champion and Skins rookies Retief Goosen and Geoff Ogilvy in the field for the event. The event will be held June 18-19 at The Raven at Lora Bay near Collingwood, Ont.
This year's Telus World Skins will be played the two days following the U.S. Open at Oakmont in Pennsylvania.
IMG Canada who is marketing the event is going with a world theme because the competitors hold passports from all over the globe: Ames (born in Trinidad & Tobago, now living in Calgary); Daly (U.S.); Montgomerie (Scotland); Goosen (South Africa); and Ogilvy (Australia).
Should be interesting to hear the banter between this eclectic group of golfers. Would also be interesting to take in some of the action live. We'll see if the schedule fits.

Boo's Unreal Win
Boo Weekley didn't blow his chance again at his first PGA Tour vicotry as he chipped in on the final two holes for pars to hold off Ernie Els and win the Verizon Heritage on Monday. It was his short game that got him his victory that's for sure his stats were sweet:
Which tennis tournament is the toughest in the world physically and mentally? The answer most will come up with is the french open. The tournament that lets its fans watch the greatest show of stamina, endurance, agility and most of all the heart’s will to go on even when there is no juice left in the tank. French open gives its participant players the games of their lives. On the clay court they know they have to do magic with the tennis balls to stand on the top.

"Unreal," Weekley said. "This is unreal."

Want to Caddy In The Open
There's always great golf deals on eBay I've bought many a golf club on eBay but this has to be one of the coolest things. A chance to caddy for a professional is a once in a lifetime thing especially at the Open at Carnoustie. The British Open is being held from July 19-22 however, you'll be will be required to be there on Sunday July 15 for the necessary practice rounds. The golfer is Ewan Porter, who I don't know alot about but apparently he's in the Open because he qualified with 3 others at the Australasian Final International Qualifier. Bids start at $30,000 and there's already one bid.

Zach Johnson Wins The Masters
I watched alot of Masters coverage over the weekend being Easter weekend and having It off and I never though for the life of me that Zach Johnson would end up on the top of the leaderboard but he did with rounds of 71-73-76-69. His 69 on Sunday was amazing considering that the average score for Sunday was way over par. Cool and windy conditions played havoc for most players even Tiger as he just didn't seem on his game, although he probably would of won if it wasn't for the charge of Zach Johnson. VJ maybe Goosen or even Appleby but not Johnson. It was definitely his short game with great chipping and clutch putting Congrats Zach.
My Fantasy Picks for the week were a complete flop with Tiger obviously being my best pick the others finished like so:
VJ-13th
Phil-24th
Ogilivy- 24th
Pampling-36th
Howell- 43rd

First Range Session Of The Season
Well during a break in work this past Sunday I went to a local golf range(19Th Tee). It was great to be outside even though it was raining/hailing a bit. I actually hit a large bucket which I'm sure had close to a hundred balls. It didn't dawn on me til the end that all the clubs I hit I had never hit before, the only club was my 58 degree TP wedge. Crazy stuff, everything felt great the swing felt good and only a few real bad shots. My favorite club will definitely be my 21 degree Titleist 585H hybrid. This club is just awesome I think I will replace my 3 wood with a 17 degree 585H for sure, very versatile club.

Adam Scott Wins Shell Houston Open
Adam Scott was just a little shaking on #18 but a 50 ft. putt for par after putting his tee shot in the water solidified a win in Houston. Scott finished at -17, three strokes ahead of Stuart Appleby, the defending champion, and third-round leader Bubba Watson. It was Scott's 5th career PGA Tour win.
