Rickie Fowler's Cobra King Forged MB Irons

Rickie Fowler's off to a great start to his 2016 season with a 5th, MC at Farmers, and a playoff lose at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. He seems to be hitting on all cylinders. I've been intrigued lately at the pros irons as I'm in the market for a new set and Rickie's Cobra King Forged MB are just sweet.

Fowler’s new King Forged Musclebacks are designed with tungsten weights added to the toe, like the version that is sold in pro shops. But Cobra drills a hole in the sole of each of Fowler’s clubs and fills it with tungsten. Like his woods, Fowler’s irons are shorter than standard, so the added weight brings the swingweight in line with what Fowler wants.

“There is not a lot of things that change from year to year with muscleback irons, once you get the size and the shape right,” Schomin said. “But one of the things that is unique about these is that they are matte black. That wasn’t his idea, but we talked about it very early on with him. Obviously if you take a small muscleback blade and make it black, visually it gets even smaller. He was all for it and thought the color looked really cool.”

Fowler’s pitching wedge is a part of this set of irons. It has 47 degrees of loft, like the 47-degree Tour Trusty pitching wedge that he carried previously.
