State of Golf Gets Thumbs Up For The Week

Look no further than a few days ago at Ernie Els' Charity Event of the popularity of golf. Several PGA Tour Pros as well a whole lots of spectators were witness to Rickie Fowler making a brilliant hole-in-one on the 19th hole of the Old Palm Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Not only does Fowler jar a wedge (borrowed from Luke Donald) from 113 yds. but he wins $1 million for the Els for Autism Fund.

Rickie's shot is met with obvious exuberance from host Ernie Els but also other pros like Louis Oosthuizen and Rory McIlroy.

Golf is a game played all over the World. Look at the sorority of players that were at Ernie's event. The likes of Jack Nicklaus, Adam Scott, Charl Schwartzel, Keegan Bradley, Louis Oosthuizen, Luke Donald, Nick Price, Retief Goosen and, of course, Els himself.

Golf is becoming more and more popular. There are video games, PC games and free online versions of Golf. Online casinos, such as SlotsHeaven offer online slots themed golf games, where you can play for free and even make some money if you'd like to.

Sure some people think kids only want to play online video games against Tiger Woods but many just want to hit shots like Rickie Fowler. Guys like Rickie are good and they're growing the game.

Early last week Tiger Woods who's back practicing his short irons/games was opening up a new golf course outside of Houston, Texas. Called The Playgrounds – a 10-hole loop of par-3 holes that range from 53 to 102 yards in length. A golf course perfect for kids.

A huge crowd was on hand for the opening of the Playgrounds, which included a plethora of golf crazed kids drooling at the chance to play this golf course.

One of those kids, 11-year-old Taylor Crozier, who was announced to the crowd as having "perfect attendance in school this year – until today." Taylor steps up to the first tee to hit the first shot on the new course and sinks it for a remarkable ace – and it happened with Tiger Woods standing right there.

The crowd goes wild at witnessing this amazing shot under some special circumstances. Tiger gives Taylor a good old bear hug and no one seemed happier than Tiger for the kid's special shot on this opening day of the Playgrounds. I'm sure Taylor was thinking this is far better than golfing against Tiger Woods head to head on a video game like EA Sports PGA Tour golf.
