Club Ho - Do I Have Problem?

It just seems I can't find a driver that I'm really keen on. Over the last two seasons I've gone through a Ping G2, Hi-Bore XL, Taylormade Burner and now a Cobra X Speed D which of course I'm not entirely pleased with. I know most will say just get a few lessons and get fitted for a driver but you know what I like trying a bunch of drivers. I think it's the thrill of trying something new some new piece of technology, movable weights, different calibration, some sort of new bearings in the head. Hell I don't care I'm a club ho and I love it. So do you want to trade drivers. Presently on the look out for a Adams XTD Pro driver or maybe a Superquad. Anyone!

Manitoulin Island Country Club Golf Course Review

Back in August I had the pleasure of playing a beautiful little 9 hole golf course way up on Manitoulin Island. Now being a 9 hr drive with my three kids this wouldn't be a place I'd play or visit that often but we were vacationing with some family so when my cousin's husband suggest we play the Manitoulin Island Country Club's 9 holes of golf I didn't hesitate and boy was I glad for that.

Now most of the time I'm not to keen on just playing a 9 hole course but Manitoulin Island Country Club was a refreshing change. We ended up playing 9 holes two days in a row so that was pretty cool. Manitoulin Island Country Club golf course is situated just a few minutes from Gore Bay and it's on a nice piece of rolling property. All the holes are set up using the natural contours of the land and even some of the shorter holes are very challenging considering the variation in elevation change.

The thing I really like about the course was the fact it was very challenging played from any of the three tee boxes. This has alot to do with the small crowned greens which were very tricky. If you had a downhill putt you had to be careful you didn't carry it to far or you might be off the putting surface. The first day we played it was after a day or two of heavy rains and the course was fairly dry all things considered, the next day things were even better. So it obviously has pretty decent drainage. From the whites the course consists of two par 5s(440yd/420yd), 2 par 3s(125yd./155yd.) and 5 par 4s (from 286yd. to 343 yd.).

So it's not a long course but the greens and hilly terrain make for an interesting experience. At $20 fro 9 holes you really can't go wrong with the price either. They have a nice little clubhouse where you can have your favorite beverage while you see the rest of the golfers come off the 9th hole

Championship Chase All But Over - Will Next Year Be Different?

Tell me Tiger Woods isn't just sitting at home wishing he wasn't injured and could of been playing last week at the Ryder Cup as well as the FedEx Cup events including this weeks Tour Championship. I'm sure he's burned out a couple of treadmills rehabbing his knee just missing out on the opportunity to play golf with the World's best. like this week's Tour Championship who's at the top Sergio, Anthony Kim, Mickelson, Choi, Allenby, Villegas guys that usually chase Tiger. I wonder how different next year will be. Congrats VJ better finish your round tomorrow and good luck to those hoping for a Tour Championship win.

Anthony Kim Leads Tour Championship w/ Video

After 2 rounds Anthony Kim is showing no Ryder Cup hangover. This kid probably doesn't even now what day of the week it is he's been to so many tournaments in the past few months. I remember seeing him at the Canadian Open just after the Open Championship and it seems he's played every tournament since. Will he win this week stay tuned and enjoy the video clip highlights from his first two rounds.

Ryder Cup Videos Not Behaving

After returning from a little R&R in the Georgian Bay area I got to work on some Ryder Cup videos. I was only around a computer one day so all I had was Day 1 of the festivities not Day 2 or 3 on my computer. So I got to work on some editing but it looks like the files that I had downloaded aren't behaving. What I first thought might be a corrupt memory stick was false then I tried a new FLV converter but after a few different attempts at getting you guys some Ryder Cup videos it looks like it's not going to happen. So I apologize.

Ryder Cup Day 1 Pairings- Need To Know Info

So here's the first 4 pairing for the morning Foursomes:

And this is what you need to know about the formats for those not sure:

Fourball (four groups of two two-man teams): A match in which each member of the two-man teams plays their own ball. Four balls are in play per hole with each of the four players competing. The team whose player has the lowest score on that hole wins the hole. Should players from each team tie for the best score, the hole is halved.

Foursomes (four groups of two two-man teams): A match where two golfers play together against two other golfers and each team plays one ball. The golfers play alternate shots (player A hits tee shot, player B hits second shot, etc) until the hole is played out. Team members alternate playing the tee shots, with one golfer hitting the tee shot on odd-numbered holes, and the other hitting the tee shot on the even-numbered holes. The team with the better score wins the hole. Should the two teams tie for best score, the hole is halved.

Singles (12 groups of two one-man teams): A match in which one player competes against another player. A player wins the match when he is up by more holes than there are holes remaining to play.

Faldo's Picks Revealed Early From A Piece Of Paper

A cameraman with a great zoom lens and a good angle may of gotten a glimpse of Europe's pairings. Whoops could this be a bit of a blunder by Team Captain Faldo. It remains to be seen but we can only wait. Here's how it played out yesterday:

The European skipper was pictured with a hand-written note apparently containing pairings for the opening matches on Friday.

The paper had pairings on them — Sergio Garcia and Lee Westwood, then Padraig Harrington and Robert Karlsson.

Underneath them were the initials of Justin Rose, Ian Poulter, Graeme McDowell and Paul Casey, then on the next line Oliver Wilson, Soren Hansen and Miguel Angel Jimenez. Henrik Stenson’s name was missing.

Local Course Looking For Help Now And For Next Year

I've noticed a few of the local courses here in the Ottawa area are looking for help the remainder of the year as well as for next year. So if your looking contact them asap. I know for a fact the following are looking for maintenance staff.

Smith Falls Golf Course
Manderley On The Green
Stonebridge Golf And Country Club

If you know of anymore let me know and I'll post them. Thanks.

Golf Aids Help Or Hinder

Not to long ago I posted a video about Vijay Singh and a device he uses for his swing tempo. Most if not all golf pros have some sort of gadget to help with their golf game. Hell most hacks like myself have a few as well. Have things gone to far. Bobby Jones never had a new fancy swing device to help with his swing nor did any golfer back then. The putting aids, swing gloves, talking watches, and swing helpers may actually help short term but long term if your swing sucks is a coach the only real help. Let me know what you think.

Anthony Kim Postive Force At Ryder Cup

I don't think the US will win the Ryder Cup this year but I do believe a few rookies will have a pretty good 1st Ryder Cup and I do believe it will be close. To me Anthony Kim has the goods to do well at the Ryder Cup. He has all the shots and he's got that fire to win. Fist pumps aside Anthony Kim is what the American side needs. He's been doing well coming into the Ryder Cup along with 2 wins this year. Check out some video of Anthony Kim from the BMW Championship.

Cameron Collector Ryder Cup Contest

I'm sure most who are a member over at the Cameron Collector forum know about the great Ryder Cup contest they have going on over there for some pretty sweet Ryder Cup swag.

It's a great Ryder Cup contest here's the scoop:

- one entry per member
- must be a member as of 9.10.08
- entries must be posted no later than 10:00pm 9-18-08 (entries received after said time will not be honored)

There is a possible 28 points available that the US and European teams will be competing for. Each match is worth a point and ties are halved. Each entry must have your name, user name, winning team and the final scores of each team. You must also include the name of the player you think will clinch the win for his team. This part will only be used in event of a tie between members.

***One thing different than with the majors contests - YOU CAN HAVE THE SAME PICK AS ANOTHER MEMBER.***

Entries should look like this:

Erik Olsen E Man USA 17-11 Tiger Woods

-In the event that there is still a tie(more than one member picked the same scores, team and clinching player) we will have another tie breaker to be
announced, in the event it is necessary. If there are two we'll play rock paper scissors. More than two and we'll draw from a hat.
-Any and all decisions/changes regarding the contest shall be made at the discretion of the TCC management.
Here's some pics of what you can win:

Mercedes-Benz Championship Day1 And 2 Highlights

I often look forward to various tournaments on the European Tour especially this week as there no events on the PGA Tour, everyone is gearing up for the Ryder Cup which starts this coming week. The Mercedes-Benz Championship boasts a pretty good field of 78 golfers including 4 members of the European Ryder Cup at first I thought odd that 4 guys would stay over in Europe and not want to get over to the U.S.A. for a few extra Valhalla practice sessions but I'm assuming that for the guys (Robert Karlsson, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Graeme McDowell, Søren Hansen) this is their routine. These guys I'm sure have a private plane to whisk them away once the tournament is over. Karlsson is leading after 2 days and Hansen is tied for 5th. The ride could be even sweeter if one of those lads wins. Check out the highlights from the first two days.

Sport Sunglasses A Must For Golfers

How often are you out golfing with friends on a nice sunny day and you come up to a hole your buddy always has trouble with. Tons of bad stuff on the left including water and lots of rough. He proceeds to hit his tee shot and once again it lands in the dreaded rough. After a few swear words your group hit their tee shots and proceed to find your playing partners ball which should be relatively easy to find. After 2 or 3 minutes no one out of the group can find the ball. The way the sun is shining no one can seem to find the ball which looked relatively easy to find from the tee box. One guy mentions he wishes he had his sport sunglasses because they seem to pick up golf balls better in and out of the rough. The other playing partners give his heck and one guy who lost his ball reluctantly hits another. This type of scenario plays out every day across the country.

My experience is the same and for me my sport sunglasses are a must when finding a wayward golf ball. I golf alot with a variety of golfers some I know well other complete strangers. I always wear my sport sunglasses to take the glare off my eyes when trying to find my playing partners golf ball it's a given and it really speeds up the game because you end up spending less time looking for your ball and your playing partner will be less stressed when you find their ball.

If you are looking for a great pair of sport sunglasses for golf or whatever. Check out Sunglass Warehouse they're constantly updating their discount sunglasses to meet the customers needs especially when it comes to sports sunglasses. They seem to have all styles whether your a golfer, an avid fisher or a crazy NASCAR fan. Check it out today.

Searching For The Perfect Golf Job

Do you ever do this? Your just looking through a job board maybe just seeing what's out there and see a pretty great job and from the many job descriptions you've read this certain one seems to fit right into your area of expertise. Then you realize it's not in the area of the country where you live. You've failed to put that criteria in your search parameters. I've done this numerous times on golf job boards and Internet job boards as well only to realize damn being a golf rep in Alaska is a little far of a commute.

USA Ryder Cup Announcement Video

Paul Azinger completed his American team Tuesday with captain’s picks it was definitely going to be interest to see who he picked because no American player had really run to the front of the Ryder Cup line. Azinger ended up adding Chad Campbell, Steve Stricker, Hunter Mahan and Kentucky native J.B. Holmes to a team that will have six Ryder Cup rookies. Can't wait to see what happens. Here the USA Ryder Cup announcement.

Vijay Singh Uses Swing Tempo Device For Sweet Swing

It no question Vijay Singh is the hottest golfer right now and it could have alot to do with a small electronic device called the "Swing Tempo". VJ uses it during his practice routines keeping his swing in tune. One after another he hits balls as he listens through headphones to a rhythmic calibration of the ideal tempo and timing of his backswing and downswing.

It's a small digital device that's show below.

If VJ has problems with his tempo tell me hackers like myself definitely need something like this. I know I've struggled at times with my tempo. Check out the video below of VJ using the Swing Tempo and comparing the sound to a light saber from Star Wars. I definitely could see VJ as a Jedi.

Colorado Springs Golf

A friend I just recently golfed with might be relocating down to the United States. He has a line on a new job in the Colorado Springs area. I originally met him in B.C. so I know he has a love of the mountains. He's already talked to a Colorado Springs realtor so I know he's pretty serious. He's definitely thinking about it and he knows about a few great golf courses in the area already as he's played at Bear Dance and Broadmoor previously. I also know he's put together a huge list of questions for realtors from Colorado Springs as well so hopefully he takes it so I can visit and play a few of those courses.

VJ Looks Unstoppable - Video Highlights

VJ seems to have found his putting stroke all PGA tour players be very very scared. He was on fire posting an amazing 63 this past Sunday to win two weeks in a row and put a real strangle hold on the FedEx Cup. What make his 63 even more amazing was the conditions were alot harder Sunday with more wind to deal with. Check out a couple of VJ highlights from Sunday.
