An All-White Bubba At Augusta

Update*****From Khaki Crusader Today, Travis Mathew will announce its offering the same polo Bubba Watson will wear throughout The Masters through its website (click here for the link).

Thanks to our friends Anne Marie and Sean over at the Khaki Crusader we get a taste of what Bubba Watson will be wearing at Augusta next week. Apparently Travis Mathew has designed 5 all-white designs for Bubba to graces the fairways and greens of Augusta National Golf Course. The all-white Travis Mathew apparel will be worn every day of the tournament trimmed in a dark Augusta green. I’ve never worn all-white before and only last year ventured into wearing white shorts from Votary Golf as I graced the fairways and greens of various golf courses.

From the picture I only see positives in the color and design. Will this be a trend we see in golf apparel like the all-white golf clubs that are being sold this season. That remains to be seen but I definitely know when next week arrives Bubba won’t be mistaken for one of the caddies in their white Masters jumpsuits or will he? Thoughts?

Be sure to follow Anne Marie and Sean at Khaki Crusader.

Commence Drooling Nike Limited Edition Masters Golf Shoes and Balls

THP received a little package from Nike Golf today. The Hackers Paradise is noted for getting the latest and greatest stuff but Limited Edition Masters swag tops the heap. The Limited Edition Masters Edition Lunar Controls shoes look stunning. Although I've never worn Nike golf shoes before I'd certainly wear these with pride. Some people might just package these up and keep them as collectors items. What would you do?

I have to get some contacts at Nike to get sent this kind of swag. The Limited Edition Lunar Controls will be sold in a very limited quantity at the nikestore.com. Our friends over at NG Nation also got a package today so be sure and check them out as well for all things Nike I'm sure there will be more related to the Masters.

There's also a Limited Edition Masters Edition of the Nike 20XI golf ball. You can't buy these but Nike are giving away sleeves of the Masters Edition golf ball during Masters week on their Facebook page.

Rickie Fowler OKState.com Interview

OKState.com interviews Former Oklahoma State and current PGA Tour golfer Rickie Fowler on his return "home" to Karsten Creek. Fowler has made several trips back to Stillwater, both to prepare for upcoming tournaments and to catch up with old friends. Big fan of Rickie's would love to see him pull out a win this week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Rickie Fowler played with Arnold Palmer recently. Arnie was impressed with his game and maturity. He's currently leading the tournament. Wouldn't it be cool to see Arnie presenting Rickie the trophy on Sunday.

Palmer and Quagmire Golf A Good Marriage

So who doesn’t want to see Arnold Palmer wearing a Quagmire Golf ColorFusion Shirt Wednesday at Bay Hill when it’s officially announced that Quagmire will be signing on for 5 years to re-design and reinvigorate the Arnold Palmer line of apparel.

When I first read it last week at Golf.com I thought it’s about time. The line seemed to be very stagnate. Geared towards those that only shop at Sears. Arnold Palmer has always been an icon for style this new line should reflect that. Nice going Quagmire Golf another Canadian company doing well in the highly competitive golf apparel market.

The Khaki Crusader has a great interview of Geoff Tait – the co-founder and lead designer for Quagmire Golf be sure and check it out.

ECCO Shoes Arrive

My first pair of ECCO golf shoes arrived this week for review and I'm excited to test them out on and off the course. Now I just have to pry them away from my son Gus who wants to wear them outside to hit balls in the backyard (still a little wet though).

The hybrid sport-casual Golf Street model has always peaked my interest. First when I saw Freddie Couples wearing them last year at the Masters. I'm usually drawn towards non traditional shoes and apparel. The ECCO Golf Street shoes definitely fit the bill.  I've already dropped the gray laces for the blue. Stay tuned for the full review.

ECCO was recently named "Best Golf Shoes Brand" in the 2011 About.com Readers' Choice Awards over the likes of adidas, FootJoy and Nike.

St. Patrick's Day Flair On The Golf Course

Nice to see some of the lads on the PGA Tour showing their St. Patrick's Day flair yesterday during the first round of the Transitions Championship. What was your favorite?

One of my favorites from yesterday. Zach Johnson in some great Iliac Golf apparel.
Nice green accents to Martin Kamyer Hugo Boss polo
Lucas "Grizzly Adams" Glover looks sharp in this Nike ensemble.
Sergio Garcia gets high marks as well with his Adidas St. Patrick's Day colors.

Yahoo Fantasy Golf Picks WGC-Cadillac Championship

This weeks picks are almost like picking the Match Play winners a few weeks ago. A real crap shoot. We know guys like Tiger Woods, VJ Singh, Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk and Luke Donald do well at the Blue Monster but who will come through this week but such a stacked field. Weather conditions look better a(no wind) than last week so for those that keep it out of the water and rough should have access to lots of birdies. Here's my picks

My Foursome

A-List

Matt Kuchar - His steady play this year is due for a win. I'm banking on this week. Great putter and ball striker. Should make lots of birdies this week.

Bench - Graeme McDowell - Like the way he finished last week with a 64 and a back door top 10. Stacked field he will rise to occasion for all 4 rounds.

B-List

Bill Haas - Has done everything but win this year. Great in all around stats. Let the birdies rain.

Charl Schwartzel - I see him improving from last weeks T14. Doesn't make a lot of mistakes and can make lots of birdies.

Bench YE Yang - One of the hottest players around has won in FLA before why not his week.

Vijay Singh - Aside from MC last week VJ seems to be on form. Great record here, a win would be huge.

C-List

Martin Kaymer - Mr #1 in the World has a T3 here last year. Would love to win this one after losing to Luke Donald a few weeks ago in Match Play.

Bench - Alvaro Quiros - Two top 15s the last two years. He obviously likes Doral. As long as he's not to wild w/ the driver he should do well this week.

Ben Crane's Latest Video, McIlroy Changes Putter and Rickie's Hockey Game

Nice to see another video from the always zany Ben Crane. His latest video finds him pondering his noted slow play. Do you like everything about yourself? He asks. His attempts at golfing faster are very funny. Love the pink socks Ben, keep it up!

Ben Crane On Slow Play

Rory McIlroy is making some changes this week for the WGC-Cadillac Championship in Florida. He's bumping his Scotty Cameron Studio Select Fastback 1 Prototype out of the bag for a Scotty Cameron Del Mar Prototype. After Rory's dismal week last week let's hope this change works out for him.

Rickie Fowler had some time off from preparing for the WGC-Cadillac Championship. So what to do in Florida, why take in a Florida Panther hockey game. Apparently his good buddy David Booth plays for the Panthers. Booth scored a goal in the Panthers 3-2 victory btw.

Testing Out A New Golf App - Golf Hustle

Downloaded a new iPhone app today called Golf Hustle. If you like to play various golf games like Nassau, Match, Stroke, Skins, Sixes, and Vegas with your buddies then this might be the app for you. So far it's very easy to use and the interface is relatively easy to follow. They're definitely going to have to add more courses as there are none listed for Canada yet. Stay tuned to iPhone Golfer Apps for the full review. "Golf Hustle does the scoring, you do the golfing!"

Kentwool Socks, Asher Gloves, The Rope It

Here's the products that have come a cross my desk recently and are up for review. Some Kentwool socks arrived  not to long ago and I've been eager to test these out after lots of exposure from Bubba Watson and on their Twitter feed. I've had the chance so far to wear the Men's Tour Profile socks and what a different wool can make in socks.

The last few years I haven't worn a glove while golfing but that's going to change as I'm testing some gloves from Asher Golf. The CoolTech Birdy and the Birdy-Red. Check the pics below to see why they're called the Birdy. James from Asher Golf had a hard time last keeping up with demand. Can't wait to flip the Bird!

Ever wanted to safely hit full shots with your irons in your backyard. Well with the cleverly designed The Rope It you can. With enough space you can see 20 yds. of flight hitting a real ball. It's only for 6,7, and 8 irons. Good for golfers with limited time now your backyard can be your private range and warm-up area. Now I just need that last snow to melt in my backyard.

Rory Sabbatini Plays R11 To Win But Short Game Was Saviour

I've had some people comment to me on Twitter that focusing on a pros equipment is a waste of time. My opinions differ. I'm a golf equipment junkie I like to know what the pros are using. Does it make me rush out and buy their clubs, certainly not. Do I think that's the best equipment out there or the best equipment for my game, certainly not again. I just like to know what they're playing. I do reviews and test out what equipment ends up in my bag.

Rory Sabbatini won this week with a R11 driver in the bag. It certainly wasn't his driving that won the tournament for him. The short game again week in week out wins tournaments for the pros. Rory was T2 in putts per round and T19 for putts in GIR. He only had 6 bogeys all week with no doubles or others.

Cobra-Puma Golf to launch all-white Special Edition S3 driver

Cobra-Puma Golf first launched their White Special Edition ZL driver at the end of last year. Ian Poulter quickly won with it, all 500 limited edition drivers obviously went quick. Now comes the launch of the all-white Special Edition S3 driver. According to Emily Kay of the Boston Golf Examiner looks like more fun is to come from Cobra-Puma Golf with the launch of the S3 and Cobra's other products. Photos from GolfWRX.com

From Emily Kay of the Boston Golf Examiner

Cobra Golf to take Demo Day on the road

Cobra Golf will kick off the commercial launch of of its S3 driver by taking its PGA Demo Day experience on the road. The company, which merged with Puma a year ago and quickly sold out its 500 Limited Edition white ZL drivers late last year, will inflate its traveling white cube on the grounds of courses nationwide starting in April. The igloo-like structure was clearly the happening place at the PGA Demo Day in January, with a DJ spinning live tunes; free beer; and celebrity appearances by the likes of pro golfer and pin-up girl Blair O’Neal, teen whiz kid Lexi Thompson, and former Boston Red Sox star Johnny Damon (he may have played for the Evil Empire in New York and is now a Tampa Bay Ray, but it’s really all about the BoSox).

Coming-out party. "Demo Day was a real opportunity for us to have our coming-out party for Cobra-Puma Golf and showcase the energy and social atmosphere we can bring to golf," Brian Zender, Cobra Golf’s senior VP and GM, told Boston Golf Examiner.

Cobra will try to recreate its Demo Day mojo at demo days across the country. In addition to test-driving the sticks, golfers will have the chance to win prizes, including caddying for Cobra tour staffer, Twitter maestro, and fashionista, Ian Poulter.

The company will formally announce its loop-for-Poulter sweepstakes next month and in the May issue of Golf Digest. Meanwhile, the first demo day will be at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex in Sacramento, Calif., from April 29-May 1. The company hopes to host similar golf-ins at PGA and LPGA events, Zender said.

Neon orange on the tee? Zender, by the way, did not rule out the possibility of Cobra introducing the industry’s first orange golf club to reflect the favorite neon hue of Puma’s Rickie Fowler. Fowler does not play Cobra clubs, but is a colorful representative for Puma apparel and footwear.

I Love My Poker Chip Ball Markers

Who doesn't like a good ball marker especially one that has a  cool design on it. SeeMore sent me one when they sent me a Si4 putter recently. I picked up a few from THP who had some real nice ones. Another Golf Forum  GolfWRX.com had some great markers as well. After seeing what was out there I decided to take the plunge myself.

With some help Derek from 72Strokes.com, he gave me the number where he purchased his so I gave Bunnie at Royal Gaming Products a call and so the process began. She was very helpful with all my questions and boy did I have lots. I had a design in mind and we went back and forth. The design you see below is what we came up with. LMK what you think of these custom ceramic poker chips. I'm real happy with them. Thanks Bunnie and Royal Gaming Products.

If you plan on attending the 2011 Ottawa-Gatineau GOLFEXPO I'll be there so just come up and ask me for one. I'll also be giving some away some with various contests through the year. LMK what you think!

Yahoo Fantasy Picks - Honda Classic

Well with the Match Play Championship going on last week it was kind of hard to focus on the other tournament that was going on in Cancun, Mexico. Johnson Wagner ended up winning the Mayakoba Golf Classic over the smokin' Spencer Levin on the first hole of a sudden death playoff. Levin got me 10 bonus points. Brian Gay and Johnnie Vegas got me solid points as well. I've climbed my way back to semi respectability having 31,168 points(75%). So what will it take this week a the Honda Classic and the treacherous Bear Trap. Putting and scrambling will again be key on this tough course. The weather also plans on getting windy so look for guys who play well in windy conditions (ie. Floridians & Australians)

My Foursome

A-List

Brian Gay - Great putter and scrambler. Good record here plus he's coming off a top 5 from last week.

Bench - Graeme McDowell - Tough course should suit G-Mac's game. Looking for another top 10 this year.

B-List

Vijay Singh - A resurgence for VJ sees this Florida resident T31 in putting and 16th in scrambling. A week off should recharge his batteries for a win.

Charl Schwartzel - Course should suit his game if it gets windy he'll excel.

Bench YE Yang - Look goo last week in Match Play. His game seems to be coming around. Has won here!

Robert Allenby - Good track record here (4 top 10s) hasn't done much this season but something about this course he likes.

C-List

Fredrik Jacobson - 3 Top 10s here and is playing well. Top 20 last week.

Bench - Jimmy Walker - Leads in putting and scrambling stats so far this year. Should do well with that confidence. No real track record here.
