Top Golf Holiday Destinations

The idea of taking a golfing holiday will be one that has immense appeal for anyone who enjoys playing or watching the sport, and there are a number of destinations around the world that are ideal for this. From Scotland with its famous links courses, to Augusta in Georgia, the world is your oyster. This piece will detail a few of the best places to go for a golf holiday.

1. The Algarve
Portugal’s Algarve has many things that make it a fabulous holiday destination – from the beautiful beaches and scenery to the glorious climate – but it has also become a popular destination for golfing breaks. Perhaps the best option to pick within the Algarve is Vilamoura, which is a town by the harbour that is essentially one big complex dedicated to golf. You will find numerous superb courses there – including Laguna, Pinhal and Oceanico Old.

2. Hawaii
This is another location that is not generally associated with golf, as surfing is usually synonymous with Hawaii, but in fact the landscape is very well suited to golf course construction. Kapuala, Turtle Bay and Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort are among the superb golf courses you will find here – with the first of these even being used by the professionals on the US PGA Tour. Furthermore, Hawaii also boasts spectacular mountains, ravines, waterfalls and beaches, as well as an exciting nightlife.

3. Morocco
If Hawaii seems like an unusual choice for a golf holiday, then Morocco is even more out of left-field, but the country has been carefully cultivating a strong reputation among golfers. It is home to the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, which was constructed with the aim of making the finest resort devoted to golf that it was possible to build. Containing 45 holes this resort was designed by top post-war architect Robert Trent Jones Sr and is located in Rabat. It was the brainchild of golf-loving monarch King Hassan II and also features a forest and marble Roman columns.

4. Las Vegas
When most people think of Las Vegas, they think of gambling in its many glittering casinos, but the resort is home to all manner of entertainments – including golf. Most of the casino complexes boast jaw-dropping golf facilities, such as the Cascata Golf Club at Caesars Palace. This can be found around 20 miles from the famous Vegas strip, in Boulder City, and you will be taken to and from the course in a limousine before being treated like a king when you arrive. The course itself boasts stunning views, and good play, but there are also other great courses like Rio Secco that you can try while you are in Vegas.

As you can see, there are plenty of different places to choose from when it comes to taking a golfing holiday, and many of the best courses are to be found in unexpected locations. All four of the ones above boast great golf and much more besides, so what are you waiting for?
