Weir Announces New Sponsor

Mike Weir announced during a news conference in Toronto on Monday Dec. 17, 2007 that he'll be dropping Bell as his sponsor and signing with Thomson corporation. Thomson will be his primary corporate partner for the next five years. No more Bell on Mike's cap, Thomson will now replace it. Weir's deal with Bell was up after 14 years. Bell's focus is more domestic – his U.S. TV exposure was mostly wasted. It makes sense business wise and money wise to sign with Thomson because they have a more global concern.
