2013 Nike VR_S Covert Driver Pics and Video

You have to love this time of the year companies getting ready to launch their new products. Golf crazed consumers starved for the latest tools of the trade. Nike Golf put out a video out two months ago showcasing their new 2013 Nike VR_S Covert Driver. If you haven’t seen it check it out another great marketing teaser from one of the best marketing companies in the world.

For me Nike Golf has never really been on the radar, not one Nike club has graced my golf bag, I know very rare considering Tiger impact on the sport. Now on the other hand if you were walking through Golf Town with my son and asked him to pick up the club he’d want to hit first the Nike VR_S Covert Driver would be the one he’d pick up. He doesn’t have any Nike Clubs yet he’s only 4 but man his wardrobe sure is packed with Nike stuff. He loves it!

The Nike 2013 VR_S Covert Driver definitely has some qualities that differentiate it from other drivers. From the picture below you’ll notice the bottom of the club is carved out just like the cavity back irons most of us use on the golf course. Nike has used this cavity back technology to put more weight to the heel and the toe of the club, increasing the MOI (Moment of Inertia). So once the club comes in contact with the ball it is more stable thus improving distance. The thing I like about the whole concept is the fact you don’t see this cavity at address it’s concealed by the traditional looking head of the driver. Hence Nike aptly named this the “covert” driver.

Check out this great video from a PGA Pro in the UK who got his hands on 2013 VR_S Covert driver while the Nike rep wasn’t looking.

You may have already seen the VR_S Covert driver on some of the major golf tours. The likes of Stewart Cink, Suzanne Pettersen, Charl Schwartzel, Michelle Wie, and more have been seen using the VR_S Covert in practice and competitive rounds.

VR_S Covert Tour Driver

The VR_S Covert driver will be available at golf retailers (throughout North America and Europe) like GlobalGolf.com on February 8, 2013 and in the rest of world starting on February 15, 2013.
