Race To Dubai Puma Golf Shoes

With the Race To Dubai heating up it seems Puma Golf has decided to launch some very cool versions of the Swing GTX and C-Hopper golf shoe. I got the email from Trendy Golf in the UK so these might be hard to get over here in Canada or might be a little pricey with the exchange and duties.

Can Rickie Make Enough Cash

Can Rickie Fowler make enough money in the next two weeks to completely avoid having to go to Q-School. I know I'll be watching the 19 year old along with other golf fans. Fowler has made $553,700 on sponsor's exemptions in the past two weeks of PGA Tour tournaments.

So if he can go from 136th which is where he's at now to top 125 on the PGA Tour money list he'll get exempt status for next season without having to go to qualifying school. Then he can just worry about orlando vacations instead of actually playing in the Sunshine State.

Triple Bogey's 2010 Golf Clothing

If you haven't had the chance to check out the golf gear from local golf company Triple Bogey then be sure to check out there new 2010 line coming out this January. Not only are these guys from Ottawa but their brand is different from most of the golf attire out there, it definitely has some attitude. Back in March I did a review of some of their golf polos. I've worn them a lot over the season both on and off the course and they've held up really well. Being cotton polo shirts I'd suggest getting a size bigger though because if you machine dry them they will probably shrink. So far my favorite from the 2010 catalog are the “On Course” and “Huck 2.0″ especially.

TPC Summerlin A Birdie and Eagle Fest

Who's going to win this week in the desert on the PGA Tour if it's any indication it's someone who might make a timely eagle like yesterday where Rickie Fowler, Charley Hoffman and Chad Campbell all made eagles to get themselves into contention. Eagles were going in everywhere during Day 3 of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. TPC Summerlin · Las Vegas, Nevada.

Golf Blogger Looking For Putter Sponsor

I recently sold my putter just because I felt like I needed a change going into the off season here in Canada. What's unfortunate is I haven't picked up a new putter yet. So it looks like I'll be putting with my 21 degree hybrid for the remainder of the season unless someone out there, hint hint nudge has a putter they'd like reviewed. Earlier in the year I reviewed a SeeMore putter which was fun but I'm more of a mallet guy. The putter I just sold was in my bag for almost 2 seasons (Scotty Cameron Red X3) so something along those lines would be more than welcome. So what do you have for a Golf Blogger without a putter to review. I'll beg if I have too. :)

Francesco Molinari Leads Portugal Masters - Video w/ Slow Motion Swings

My other golf blog that I run ProGolfSwingVideos.com I try to post slow motion videos of those pros we like to emulate. Well yesterday Francesco Molinari from Italy was on fire during Day 2 of the Portugal Masters. I wanted to post this video as it's got some great slow motion swings of Francesco Molinari from the fairway, out of the sand and the rough as well. For the first two rounds Francesco Molinari could do no wrong he was like Superman jumping metal buildings with a single bound, -15 after two rounds if he keeps up this pace he'll win this week and shoot up the Race To Dubai leaderboard.

Few Days Left To Golf Here

With all this early cold weather(damn frost delays) lately the golf game has gone to the back burner and getting those things around the house winterize has become forefront. On top of raking the millions of leaves in my front/back yard I've replace my furnace filters and humidifier filters. I've phone to get my chimney cleaned as well as cleaning out my eaves troughs. The guys will be coming to re-shingle my roof as well soon. I just hope the snow holds off a little at least until I get my winter tires on as well as getting in a few late season golf games.

LPGA Players Pose Semi-Nude For Photo Spread

ESPN's Magazine execs I'm sure are quite happy that they got LPGA golfers Sandra Gal, Anna Grzebien and Christina Kim to pose semi-nude for there Body Issue which came out on Oct. 9th. Of course sexy pictures of semi-nude ladies is going to sell lots of magazines especially when your going up against the SI Swimsuit issue you need all the heat you can get. I have nothing against the photo in the least the ladies are looking great I just think some more thought should of gone into the shot to make it a bit more sexy. These ladies are hot, the golf cart not so much. Check out what others are saying of the picture at Orlando Golf Blogger and Golf Babes.

Alllenby Of Kim, "Current John Daly"

These headlines are making news today after the Americans beat the International squad 19.5 to 14.5 on Sunday. Was Allenby just pissed because he got owned by Kim in his singles match (5 and 3) or is there some merit that Kim may have been out til all hours as posted by GolfWeek.

Allenby said friends here witnessed Kim getting back to the team hotel, in Allenby's words, "sideways" at 4 in the morning, less than five hours before his scheduled tee time against Allenby at Harding Park."Some guys (from the U.S.) who didn't play well played very well today," Allenby said after the U.S. downed the International team, 19 1/2 - 14 1/2, to win its third consecutive Presidents Cup. Kim, going out in the fourth match of the day, drummed Allenby, 5 and 3, running his record in the matches to 3-1."

Maybe we should all take the theory of Anthony Kim," Allenby said. "Get home at 4 o'clock (in the morning) and then go shoot 6 under."Asked if his comments were on the record, Allenby said, "I don't care. Ask his playing partners. Ask his team. He is the loosest cannon in that team."

Of course Kim is denying it. But who really cares at this point Kim is 24, he's an American young gun and the Americans won remember. So maybe it's a ploy to actually get some exposure for the PGA Tour and the Presidents Cup. The Presidents Cup was how do you say boring with about as much excitement as listening to Asbestos legislation debates. Here's to Kim's reaction.

"He may need to go practise a little bit more."

Harding Park Golf Course - Google Street View

With the start of the Presidents Cup today I had to look up the Harding Park Golf Course on Google Maps using Street View. Here's a few of the views be sure to check it out at Google Street View.

Kuchar Uses Bridgestone J38 Prototype Driver

Other than his Rife putter Matt Kuchar won last weeks Turning Stone Resort Championship with an almost full complement of Bridgestone clubs including a new J38 Prototype Driver. For those of us that love to try new drivers. Bridgestone will be introducing a 460 cc version in March 2010. GolfWrx.com has some great photos of the J38 460CC model.

The protype Kuchar was using has a slightly smaller head then the one going to be introduced for us in the Spring.

In his victory Kuchar had the following Bridgestone equipment in his bag:

  • 2009 Bridgestone Golf TOUR B330-S Golf Ball
  • Bridgestone J38 prototype driver (9.5 degree)
  • Bridgestone Golf J33 AirMuscle #3
  • Bridgestone Golf WC Design Wedges (54 and 60 degree)

Google Street View Your Favorite Golf Course

So Google has activated its Street View service on Google Maps in Canada, providing address-by-address photographic views of Ottawa and a whole bunch of other cities (Vancouver, Whistler, Squamish, Banff, Calgary, Kitchener-Waterloo, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City and Halifax).

If you haven't check out this service be very very scared, it is highly addictive. Most people they'll be looking up there address, for me living in the rural area of Ottawa , street view isn't available. So I thought of golf courses. Do you recognize any of these Ottawa area courses. Are you one of people possibly in the street views. LMK if you are?

Who cares if this violates privacy its just another cool Google tool. So stop looking at the latest score, or the latest dirt on your favorite celebrity or using a term life insurance comparison site. This stuff doesn't matter Google has released another cool tool for us to waste away the hours. Enjoy.

Leave it to Puma Golf to release their Fall line of clothes for men and women that at first look is pretty amazing. What a tease for use golfers north of the border who are only hoping for another month of golf. DivPro Golf Divot Tool Review

Well who would of thought you could fit so many functional tools in a divot repair tool. Well the folks at NoJoke.com sent me over one of their DivPro and apparently they've figured out how to have 6 different uses for their DivPro divot tool. Obviously I was intrigued when I got it and here are my impressions.

Divot Tool

For those that don't fix ball marks please buy a DivPro now. One of my pet peeves is golfers who don't fix their ball marks it takes seconds especially with a good divot tool like the DivPro.
With its long prongs it goes into the ground easily and can turn even the largest divot mark invisible. It fit great in my hand and pivots nice to make those divots go away quick. I mainly used it on softer greens this Fall and late Summer.

Golf Grip Saver
Over the last few weeks the DivPro has been a god sent as far as keeping my grips dry. With so much dew and of course the Fall rains it's been a great tool. Pluck it down in the ground and rest your putter grip or wedge grip. Keeps it off the ground and dry for your next shot just plain awesome.

Cigar Holder

Although I rarely smoke a cigar these days of course I had to see if the DivPro actually worked for holding cigars. You'll be happy to know it holds Backwoods cigars (cheapies) quite well. For cigar connoisseurs I'm sure it will hold the larger variety easily as well. Just make sure your cigar is up wind from the breeze of your golf swing.

Groove Cleaner

I usually just use a tee but the groove cleaner on the DivPro was probably my favorite tool as it worked better then a tee especially when cleaning the grooves during wetter golf conditions.

Ball Marker

The DivPro comes with a magnetic ball marker with DivPro’s logo on it (The marker can be custom designed to include your company’s logo). To release the marker just push up on it and it releases. A great marker to mark your ball on the green.

Shotgun Opener

I love an excuse to get more beer especially when I don't have any cans which is what you need for a shotgun to work. I have to admit I haven't done a shotgun in years so it was definitely intriguing to try one again and out on the golf course no less. It worked fine and seconds as a bottle opener as well if you need that on the course too. Just remember the DivPro works great for this but if you've had to many make sure you let someone else drive.

Conclusion

Priced at $14.99(Plus S & H) the DivPro divot tool is a great looking tool for the golfer who has everything. Yes it is a bit larger than your average divot tool but it does so much more. I recommend putting in your pocket with nothing else as it is larger than your average divot tool. It makes it easier when grabbing your ball marker as well. I like the fact you can get the marker custom made a great gift for your hard to buy for Father, husband, boyfriend/girlfriend.

Presidents Cup Could Have Some Tired International Players

The Presidents Cup starts this week and I wonder how fresh some of the International Team are going to be including Ernie Els who will be playing in the final day of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on Monday. I guess it's a good thing he has his very own jet.

Since leaving Atlanta after the final FedEx Cup event his jet is taking him across the Atlantic twice in the span of eight days with golf tournaments three weeks in a row in time zones covering eight hours. How can this guy not be tired especially now that the tournament is going an extra day.

Adam Scott and Robert Allenby were playing in this weeks PGA Tour stop in upstate NY (Atunyote Golf Club at Turning Stone Resort). Scott made the cut Allenby didn't. All the US Team took the week off form tournament play. I wonder what the outcome will be come next Sunday and will a few of the International be fatigued and/or exhausted. Ernie Els says that's why he has a jet but we'll see what happens. I wonder what Els medical travel insurance looks like and can you image if he could collect air miles. Lets just hope he gets some rest.

Luke Donald Slow Motion Swing - Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

Going for his first win in well over 3 years Luke Donald shot a eight under par 64 at Kingsbarns to lead going into the final round of the 2009 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship which will be held on Monday at the Old Course St. Andrews. The third round was postponed due to gale force wins on Saturday. It would be great to see Donald win this one with such a great field. Seeing him play the Canadian Open this past summer this guys swing is too sweet it's hard to believe he hasn't won more.

2009 Canadian Cameron Convention Headcover

There are those that play a Scotty Cameron putter and love it and there are those that are Cameron Collectors. You also have those that are absolutely obsessed with all things Scotty.

The last couple of years some of those obsessed golfers thought it would be a good idea to hold a Canadian Scotty Cameron Convention on this side of the border in beautiful Niagara Falls Ontario. I've followed along with the festivities online at CameronCollector.com and boy this year what a bunch of nice putters that were on display at the Legends of Niagara Golf Club. Be sure to check them out at Cameron Collector.

Of course there was a putter you could pick up as well as a Special Events Cover if you attended the event. All I can say is wow love the Canadian inspired cover. I'm sure there will be one next year so check it out.

I'd Love To Play St. Andrews Someday

After seeing Rory McIlroy drive the green on the Tom Morris Hole at St. Andrews today it made me even more want to golf there sometime in my life. It also made me aware that links golf in October is just awesome just check out the coverage this week at the 2009 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship contested over 3 links courses (Old Course, St Andrews, Carnoustie & Kingsbarns).

The Tom Morris hole would be awesome to golf Rory hits driver and it goes long on the 357 yd. hole. Two putts for birdie and a nice 65 for McIlroy. The only time I had a 300+ yd drive was when I hit driver on a hole at a local course and I got a great bounce off the cargo liner of a truck in the parking lot. I know I'd never be able to hit it to the green on the "Road Hole" but damn it would be fun to try.

Commence Drooling - Cameron Newport Squareback Proto Tour Circle T

Scotty Cameron Newport Squareback Proto Tour Circle T
I had one of these in my hand a week or so ago. It belonged to a forum member at OttawaGolf.com and all I can say is wow. Incredibly looking with a perfect weight and just an all round awesome feel. This one can be found on eBay. I think I'll just have to settle for this one.

Rory McIlroy Playing The Old Course

Hey don't put away those clubs yet there's still lots of golf to be played. This is what I've been trying to say to myself lately but with the kids going back to school I really don't no where the last month has gone it's Oct. 2 already. I'm getting a bit scared. My wife was even talking about holiday invitations the other day. As far as the pros go most people who watch golf think the season is over but with those fighting it out for their playing privileges on the Tour you can get some pretty exciting tournaments as well as the Race to Dubai on the European Tour. One of my favorite tournaments is going on right now, the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland. Contested over 3 courses (Old Course, St Andrews, Carnoustie & Kingsbarns) it's just awesome especially seeing the amateurs play.

Check out this slow motion of Rory McIlroy from Day 2 of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

Puma Golf Signs Rising Star Rickie Fowler

Nice signing for Puma Golf in regards to signing Rickie Fowler to a Puma Footwear, Apparel and Headwear deal. I figured something was up when a few weeks ago Fowler was playing a Nationwide Tour event with some styling Puma threads.

Check out the motocross-inspired golf cart Fowler received form Puma pretty sweet. Check below for the rest of the press release.

Boston, MA (September 29, 2009) – Today PUMA® announced twenty-year old golfer Rickie Fowler, who just turned professional, will join the sportlifestyle brand’s roster of world-class athletes, among them: track and field star Usain Bolt, baseball player, Johnny Damon, and race car driver, Kasey Khane. The partnership, reached through an agreement with PUMA and SFX Golf, will make the sportlifestyle brand Fowler’s official supplier of PUMA Golf product on and off the course. He will also be featured in the Spring/Summer 2010 marketing campaigns for the brand, specifically for the golf category.

To celebrate, PUMA welcomed Fowler to the family at the Soboba Classic Tournament by surprising him with a tricked-out, motocross-inspired golf cart sporting the signature PUMA cat against the bold PUMA red background. The cart features a roll cage, off-road tires, a push bar and a state-of-the-art stereo system. Fowler will use the cart during the Pro-Am round, while he plays in a foursome made up of his father Rod Fowler and famed motocross racers, Jeremy McGrath and Brock Glover. Very much the home-town favorite, Fowler will be cheered on by thousands of spectators during the tournament.

“Rickie brings a unique blend of sport and lifestyle to the game, which fits the PUMA brand perfectly. His wide ranging interests off the course brings a crossover appeal that will resonate with a whole new generation of golfers,” said Robert Philion, Global Business Unit Manager, PUMA Golf. “As the PUMA Golf business continues to grow worldwide, it’s important for us to have players in our portfolio who bring a sense of style and excitement to the world of golf, reinforcing our mantra of Look Better, Feel Better, Play Better.”

Once a promising motocross competitor, Ricky turned his attention to competitive golf at the age of 14. As a student and golfer at Oklahoma State, Fowler made a name for himself on – and off - the course. As a freshman, he was the youngest recipient of the 2008 Ben Hogan Award, given to the nation’s top men’s college golfer, and he earned the coveted Phil Mickelson Award the very same year. For the past two years, Fowler has been ranked as the world’s #1 amateur and was also part of two Walker Cup Teams. This past year, he played in several tournaments on the PGA Tour, including two US Opens Championships. Fowler played his first professional tournament earlier in the month at the Albertsons Boise Open in Idaho. In October, Rickie will join Justin Timberlake and other celebrities in the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children Open in Las Vegas. Rickie currently resides in Murrieta, California with his parents, Lynn and Rod Fowler and sister Taylor.

“It’s an honor to be part of a brand like PUMA that is so fun and light hearted but also serious when it comes to sport,” said Fowler. “The PUMA Golf line has all of the features I need to play the game well while allowing me to express my personality with great styles and a unique look, whether I’m playing golf or just hanging out with my friends.”

During tournament appearances, Fowler will wear PUMA performance golf apparel, headwear and footwear with Smart Quill technology. Smart Quill technology features strategically positioned spikes to maximize grip, offering the best combination of traction, lighter weight and comfort in the industry. PUMA Golf apparel features Invisibonding Technology, an innovative way to eliminate stitching along the seams, which allow for easy of movement and enhanced on-course performance.

Fowler joins more than 60 golf players worldwide who are supported by PUMA including, Geoff Ogilvy, Jeff Overton, Hideto Tanihara, Johan Edfors, Erica Blasberg, Anna Nordqvist, Jade Schaeffer and many more names and faces around the globe. With a design concept that focuses on individuality, newness and color, the brand offers key elements of versatility, lightweight and innovative technology. PUMA Golf is a perfect mix of performance and lifestyle and is worn by PUMA’s pro golfers worldwide and continues to bring attitude and change to a tradition-laden sport.
